Zahid Atçil was born in 1982 in Istanbul, where he finished his primary and highschool eduation. In 2005 he graduated from the Department of Political Sciences and History at the Boğaziçi University. He continued his graduate studies at the University of Chicago in the Department of Near East Languages and Civilizations and graduated in 2015 with his doctorate thesis titled “State and Government in the Sixteenth-Century Ottoman Empire: The Grand Vizierates of Rüstem Pasha (1544-1561)”. Atçil is interested in the history of ottoman diplomacy, bureaucracy and the ottoman intellectual history. He continues to work in the History Department at the İstanbul Medeniyet University.
