• Applications made to be published, all studies are evaluated objectively, regardless of the race, gender, religious view, ethnicity, citizenship, political orientation, age or reputation of the authors.
  • Editors manage the evaluation process of the articles and final decision is made by the editors within the framework of objectivity and confidentiality, taking into account the opinions of the editorial board and the reviews of the referees.
  • Articles should be arranged within the framework of the spelling rules. Figure Manuscripts whose criteria are not fulfilled are not evaluated.
  • In the first stage, editors examine the authenticity of the article, whether it is covered by the Journal of Balkan Studies or not, and whether it contains the settings of the form. Whether the study has content that may cause ethical concerns or low standards in scientific terms, is controlled by the Editors, Editorial Board as well as computer programs.
  • In the second stage, the article (edited by the editors) passes the preliminary examination of one or more members of the Editorial Board members from the relevant field. At this stage, it is decided whether the article will only pass to the referee stage. Articles whose preliminary examination is not completed are going to be returned.
  • After the preliminary evaluations, the article is sent to the expert referees from the field and related fields. The journal uses the “double blind referee” evaluation process. In the event that the reviews of the referees are inconsistent or insufficient, the etidors and editorial board may apply to an additional referee.
  • The identity of the author and referee is strictly confidential. Editors, Editorial Board members and Referees that make the evaluation cannot share, copy or share even the smallest notes with third parties that will offend the author. The letter is sent to the third referees when necessary.
  • Referee reports are shared with the author. In line with these reports of the author it is requested to provide the corrected copy. Corrected copy of the article is evaluated by the Editorial Board along with the evaluation of the referees and the author’s answers, if any. Editorial Board decides to publish the article, to request changes and to return it to the author. In addition, the Editorial Board decides in which issue the article will be published.
  • The articles that are decided to be published are published by the authors. They are asked to sign making over copyright document.
  • Articles are revised and passed through editorial reading. After approval of the author, the article takes its final form and is published in a specified number.
  • The journal does not have to provide detailed justifications to the authors about the articles it has returned.
  • All evaluations and communication process with the authors are carried out through official correspondence addresses.
